1. Craps basics
Craps is played with two six-sided dice. One player (the "shooter") throws the dice, and all other players bet on the outcome of that roll or the following ones. Online, you can play as the virtual "shooter" yourself or simply bet on automatic rolls.
- The layout — A large playing area with different betting spots, the most central being the "Pass Line".
- The dice — Two dice thrown together, the sum of the two faces (2 to 12) determines the outcome.

2. The Pass Line bet, the base wager
It's the simplest and most common bet at craps. You bet on the "Pass Line" spot before the first roll of a new round:
- If the first roll is 7 or 11 → you win immediately (1:1 payout)
- If the first roll is 2, 3 or 12 → you lose immediately ("craps")
- Any other result (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) becomes the "Point", and the round continues
3. The "Come Out Roll" and the "Point"
The first roll of a round is called the Come Out Roll. If it establishes a Point (say, 6), the shooter keeps throwing the dice until either:
- The Point comes up again (here, another 6) → Pass Line bettors win
- A 7 comes up before the Point → Pass Line bettors lose ("seven out")

Once the Point is established, you can add an "Odds" bet behind your Pass Line wager. It's the only bet in the entire casino with a 0% house edge — the payout matches the real probability exactly.
Always maximise your Odds bet whenever possible: it's mathematically the best bet available in any casino, online or physical.
